Children’s Services Council of Broward County (CSC) announces the release of the Capacity Building Mini Grant (RFA).

The CSC is offering Agency Capacity Building project funding, business consulting, fundraising software access, as well as fundraising coaching services to child and family serving non-profit organizations in Broward County. Mini Grant opportunities will be provided to support the improvement of business operations and organizational practices, thereby enabling the organizations to deliver stronger and more enduring programs in our communities.Ideal grant candidates would have needs and projects related to: Developing stronger business knowledge and practices, and/or Improving and increasing fundraising capabilities.

The online Pre-Bid Conference will be held on August 13, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. (Attend Pre-bid conference using Zoom link HEREDeadline for submission is August 31, 2020, 12:00 p.m. NOON.  This grant cycle will run from November 1, 2020 – September 30, 2021.

Children’s Services Council of Broward County (CSC) announces the release of the Child Welfare System Youth Organizing Pilot (RFQ).

The CSC is expecting to budget approximately $75,000 in FY 20/21 for the Child Welfare Youth System Organizing Pilot Request for Qualifications (RFQ). The intent of this RFQ is to implement a pilot designed to utilize community and youth organizing principles and practices to improve the child welfare system in Broward County.

A Virtual Pre-Bid Conference will be held on July 22, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.  It is the only opportunity to receive verbal instructions regarding the services to be procured, the client populations to be served, contractual expectations, and other critical service delivery requirements. You are encouraged to attend the Pre-Bid Conference to learn more about our way of doing business!  HARD COPIES OF THE RFQ WILL NOT BE PROVIDEDTraining on the use of CAPS will take place during the Pre-Bid Conference.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Application submission through CAPS requires an uploaded current IRS W-9 Form, 2019 IRS 990 Form, and evidence that applicant agencies have annual revenues of at least $100,000.00. 

Completed applications must be submitted through CAPS by 12:00 p.m. (noon) on August 21, 2020.  LATE SUBMISSIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

ATTENTION: All procurement applications (Requests for Proposals-RFPs; Requests for Qualifications-RFQs; Requests for Applications-RFAs; etc.) must now be submitted through CSC’S web-based Contract, Administration, and Procurement System (CAPS). 

Paper submission of applications will no longer be accepted. The procurement documents will all be available in CAPS and the Application for Funding and other required documents will be submitted and/or uploaded in the CAPS system. Technical assistance on the use of CAPS will be available through CSC’s help desk whenever a procurement is available.

2-1-1 Broward, an information & referral line, provides a 24-hour, comprehensive help line and support service for individuals seeking crisis intervention assistance and/or information and referrals to health and human services in Broward County. An impressive database of information is used to provide community callers with current, relevant information regarding a wide variety of services within the community. All calls are toll-free, confidential and anonymous from anywhere in Broward County.

2-1-1 Broward Special Needs and Behavioral Health | 2-1-1 Broward

The 2-1-1 Hotline is Broward’s single source for information and referrals for children with behavioral health needs and disabilities. The hotline’s specialized staff focuses on helping parents, caregivers, agencies, and medical practitioners who serve the needs of children, find programming, support and hope. A case management component is also available for families in need of assistance accessing and navigating the special needs and behavioral health system of care.

Infrastructure building support is provided to local child and family serving nonprofit organizations through our annual Capacity Buildings Mini Grants. Through a competitive grant process, local organizations are awarded funding for capacity building projects, professional business coaching and or fundraising support each year.

Cribs for Kids | Broward Healthy Start Coalition, Inc.

In 2003, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) published a report that estimated that the risk of infant suffocation increases 20-fold when infants and adults sleep in the same bed. In 2005, the AAP restated that co-sleeping is a growing concern and recommended that infants not share a bed during sleep.

Health & Safety Initiatives
Drowning Prevention | Florida Department of Health in Broward County

Drowning Prevention is a collaborative community effort driven by the Drowning Prevention Task Force. In 2009, the Children’s Services Council allocated funding to support a full-time coordinator housed at the Broward County Health Department who provides insight and accountability for the implementation of the Drowning Prevention Action Plan.

The Faces of CSC

The impact Future Prep had on Sarah fomented her desire to give back to her community. Today, she is a Counselor for Memorial’s CSC-funded Youth Force program, helping other young people gain confidence and determine their own path for the future.
This program has touched me and made a difference in my life.
Thanks to the Children’s Services Council and the YMCA of Broward County, students have an opportunity to give a voice to issues that are important to them.
